Soviet and Turkmenian film director, screenwriter and cinematographer, winner of the National Award of the USSR, a holder of the title People’s Artist of the Turkmenian SSR. From 1976 to 1999 he was the chairman of the Union of Cinematographers in Turkmenian SSR and worked at the «Turkmenfilm” studio. Khodjakuli Narliev is a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Cinema Arts «Nika». He received an award for his film «Thirst quencher», and he was also awarded best director for the film «Daughter in law», and got a special prize as the best director for the film «The Tree Jamal» at the All-Union Film Festival. Also, he received a commemorative medal for participating in the Venice Film Festival in the film critics section, and has been mentioned by the jury at the film festival in Locarno. Khodjakuli Narliev also got the Order of “Friendship of Nations” at the International Award of Turkmenistan for the film «Competition».

Film critic and author of numerous articles published in the magazines: “Cinema Art”, “Premier”, “Kino Forum”, “Séance”, “Kinopark”, “Drugoye Kino”, “Tatlin”, also in popular magazines, encyclopedias, and scientific collections. He is a Member of the International Federation of Film Press – FIPRESCI and the International Organization NETPAC. He worked on FIPRESCI Jury Board at the Film Festivals in Kiev, Moscow, Fribourg, Turin, and Cairo. Sergei is also a Laureate of the Russian Guild of Film Critics.

He is a laureate of State Award by Platon Oyuunskyi, a winner of the VIth International Festival of Detective Films and TV Programs “Law and society”. He was noticed by special Jury Prize at International Film Festival «Nuits Polaires 2011» (France), a laureate of the VIIth Monaco Charity Film Festival, IXth International Film Festival of War Drama named after Y.N. Ozerov.

She worked as a reporter in the cultural department of the newspaper «Izvestia» and as Editor of “Premiere” for “Empire” and “InStyle” magazines. From 2009 to 2012 she was the chief editor of the section about the cinematography on OpenSpace.ru, in 2012 became a deputy editor of W-O-S. She is the author of a book about Alexei Balabanov.

Lately finished his first independent feature film as a producer “Waynon” (“Void”). The Film was awarded the Best Feature Film at the Silk Road Film Festival 2014 in Dublin; and was in Official Selection at the Dubai International Film Festival 2013, Nominated for the Golden Arab Muhr Award.
Mr. Lahoud is currently the chairperson of the Department of Media Studies at Notre Dame University – Louaize (NDU); he founded and headed the Division of Audio Visual Arts from 2006 until 2011. He is the founder and director of the NDU International Film Festival and serves as jury member in various local and international film festivals.
Mr. Lahoud is also the founding member of the Emile Chahine Foundation for Cinema Culture, and of Film Festivals Cinergy. Since 1996 he taught music, photography, and arts education. He currently teaches courses in scriptwriting, directing actors, and directing techniques.
